I am a third generation engineer. Innovation and creativity are in my blood.
Born and raised in the Midwest, I know and value hard work. Whether it is stacking alfalfa bails on a semi, or designing a solution with stringent deadlines. I love to solve problems. The harder and more complicated it is, the bigger the payoff. I am intensely curious and very detail oriented. One of my biggest passions is aeronautics.
Designed and commissioned the industrial controls system for a new automotive paint plant. Consisted of 47 separate conveyor systems.
Designed and built a custom UAV and command center for the AUVSI SUAS competition. We placed 3rd overall.
Designed a web application for KSU Housing & Dining to create, edit, and save maintenance work orders.
Work closely with USAFA researchers and cadets to design, fabricate, test, validate, and revise customized control and data acquisition hardware and software to automate experimental control, monitoring, and system safety features. Projects include wind tunnel control and data acquisition systems, jet engine test cell control and data gathering, and flight test article control and telemetry systems.
Integrated and executed simulations, analyzed sim behavior, gathered test data, and compared data between simulations. Identified new requirements, problems, and fixes for simulations as a result of the analysis/testing performed. Communicated analysis, testing, and comparison results to the Event Lead and Stakeholder.
Designed realistic virtual conveyor environments to allow testing and debugging of controls system prior to on-site commissioning. Environment included real-time 3D physics, conveyors control via simulated VFD panels, and PLC tag binding. Individual emulation components were programmed in C#, and provided modularity when building a system model.
Designed and commissioned industrial automation control systems, including power and communication networks, following the NEC, NFPA 70E and 79. Created and checked detailed engineering drawings of controls system. Programmed and debugged PLCs using robust controls logic. Systems predominantly in the automotive industry.
Created automated testing routines for FMS software using VB scripts. Ensured FMS software met company and customer specifications. Worked on a variety of FMS models including commercial and military applications. Focused on ACARS and FANS systems, and subsystems.
Trained and mentored new team members. Developed and maintained critical, secure web applications used by all housing students and staff including contracts, maintenance work order system, and eCommerce site (+125,000 requests/year collectively). Work included front and back end development, as well as database formation. Created and managed various digital signage for the department. Managed CentOS web and database servers. Fixed ad hoc requests reliably and in a timely manner. Migrated static webpages to new CMS. Assisted IT customer support during periods of high requests.
